The Iris Club was founded by Miss Alice Nevin, in 1895. The home in which our organization now resides was built in 1858 and purchased by The Iris Club in 1898. The beautiful Bates Auditorium was added in 1955 and fully refurbished in 1992.

Many community projects began within the walls of The Iris Club, including the first Red Cross, the first Well Baby Clinic and the Shelter Home for Girls.
